The Australian Mist , formerly also known as Spotted Mist and also known under the German name Australian Schleierkatze , is a short-haired breed of cats bred in Australia .
description
The breed was founded in 1976 by Dr. Truda Straede bred in Australia. It was created by crossing Burmese with Abyssinians and domestic cats in order to obtain a short-haired cat with spotted fur. In 1998, when cats with the drawing marbled (brindle, marbled) were recognized in the breed, the name was changed from 'Spotted Mist' to 'Australian Mist'.
The Australian Mist is a medium-sized, short-haired cat with a round head and large, expressive eyes. The coat color has three levels: The basic color is lighter than the drawing. The drawing is delicate, darker than the basic color but clearly visible. The drawing appears under a veil of even ticking . The Australian Mist is available in seven colors: Brown (black), Blue, Chocolate, Lilac, Gold (Cinnamon), Peach (Fawn) and Caramel (here all colors are obviously combined with the dilution modifier ).
Since the Australian Mist is a comparatively young breed, most of the breeders are in Australia and New Zealand . However, there are more and more worldwide. At the WCF , she achieved champion status. In 2006 the Australian Mist celebrated its 20th anniversary as a breed with champion status.
