description
The Brazilian Shorthair is a lively, medium-sized cat. The breed can be distinguished from the American Shorthair by its sleek and elegant appearance. However, it is not as thin as the Siamese . The legs are of medium length, the paws are slightly rounded. The head is a moderate wedge, longer than wide. The profile is slightly concave. The chin is strong. The coat is short, close-fitting, has a silky structure and no undercoat. Many colors and drawings are allowed, except points. The eyes should be about 1.5 times as far apart as they are wide. The ears are large, higher than their width, placed high on the head, and tufted with ears.
origin
The origin of the breed can be traced back to the streets of Brazil. It has changed dramatically since it went from being a street cat to a pedigree cat. It is not the first breed to evolve from a street cat , as the American Shorthair or the European Shorthair show. The Brazilian Shorthair was born from an experiment. Brazil had cats that were different from other cats in the world. However, all Brazilian street cats shared a common appearance and characteristics. Today there are still few breeders of the Brazilian Shorthair. However, the Brazilian Shorthair is currently considered a pedigree cat. The United States currently has the largest population of the Brazilian Shorthair and its breeders.
