Burmilla is a recognized Category 3 cat breed - Shorthair.

Breeding history

The Burmilla breed was created in Great Britain in 1981 by crossing two other cat breeds, which are also reflected in the name; a female Burm a (master mother Faberge ) and a male Persian (progenitor: Sanquist ) with the coat pattern RCA illa . The Fédération Internationale Féline (FiFe) recognized them as an independent breed in 1996.

Breed characteristics

The physique of this breed is usually strong, but still slender with stocky legs, the hind legs being a bit longer than the front legs. The Burmilla carries the chinchilla legacy. The ground is silver-white, only the tips of the hair show the respective color of the Burmilla. Face, legs and tail have the respective color variety, the entire underside of the cat (stomach, chin ...) is silver (or white).

Burmillas exist in the varieties black (main color), blue (lightening of black), brown, lilac, cinnamon colored, fawn, red and cream. Also tortie / tortoiseshell in the color variants mentioned. The Burmilla is available in two tipped variations - also called agouti : Shaded / shading: The color of each individual hair tip is about 13 of the hair length. And shell: the coloring of each individual hair tip is about 18 of the hair length.

Burmilla cats are balanced and very people-related characters who are extremely playful, affectionate and in need of communication.
