Wilfried Schnepp

Wilfried Schnepp (born June 3, 1957 in Lengerich ; † February 14, 2020 in Osnabrück ) was a German professor of nursing science at the private University of Witten / Herdecke and head of the chair for family-oriented and community-based care.

Life

Wilfried Schnepp moved from Lengerich to Osnabrück after completing his school education. From 1974 to 1977 Wilfried Schnepp completed a nursing training at the evangelical training center of the Münsterland for nursing professions, until 1981 the specialist training in intensive care at the Catholic social care schools in Osnabrück. From 1984 to 1987 Schnepp studied nursing education at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences in Northern Germany , and from 1993 to 1995 Nursing Science at the University of Wales and the Hogeschool van Utrecht . In 2001 he received his doctorate in Utrecht on the subject of family care in the group of Russian-German repatriates .

After completing his training, Wilfried Schnepp initially worked in intensive care at Marienhospital Osnabrück , later as the nursing director of specialist training and as an assistant to the nursing management. At the Paracelsus Clinic Osnabrück , he headed the department for in-house training. In Osnabrück he taught nursing science at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences in Northern Germany, then at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences .

Numerous stays abroad took him to Siberia , where he worked for EPOS Health Consultants. In Tbilisi / Georgia he was committed to the development of home care. He has worked as a guest lecturer in the Netherlands , Belgium and especially in Austria .

In 2001 Wilfried Schnepp took over the provisional management of the chair for family-oriented and community-based care at the private University of Witten / Herdecke. On November 17, 2005 he was appointed to the chair of the same name as chair holder. Since 2005 he has also headed the post-graduate college at the University of Witten / Herdecke, founded in 1997 by Ruth Schröck (* 1931), and transferred it to an internationally recognized doctoral college in 2013.

Schnepp was a supporter of qualitative social research and a critic of Evidence Based Healthcare .

In 2005 Schnepp, who was the father of three children, moved to Witten . His son is the Berlin-based photo artist Simon Schnepp , who is part of the Neue Langeweile photography collective .

Schnepp died after a short and serious illness in the early morning hours of February 14, 2020 at the age of 62 with his family.
