Company profile

With around 40 facilities at a total of 25 locations, the Paracelsus clinics are among the largest private clinics in Germany. Nationwide, a total of around 5,200 employees care for more than 100,000 inpatients every year. The Paracelsus clinics based in Osnabrück were owner-managed in the second generation. Owner Manfred Georg Krukemeyer, a surgeon, had once taken over the Paracelsus clinics from his father, who founded the group in the late 1960s.

On December 21, 2017, the management submitted an application to the Osnabrück District Court to open insolvency proceedings under self-administration . The Swiss investment company Porterhouse Group , which belongs to Felix Happel, Otto Happel's son , took over the clinic group on August 1, 2018. The bankruptcy was thus ended.

Group history

The origins of the clinic group go back to the laying of the foundation stone of the Paracelsus Clinic Osnabrück in 1968, which was founded by Hartmut Krukemeyer .

With the concept of the practice clinics , an integration between inpatient and outpatient care was realized not only by the treating doctor, but also spatially at the end of the 1960s.

In the 1970s and 1980s, further acute hospitals throughout Germany were initially taken over by private sponsorship. With the operation of the first rehabilitation clinic towards the end of the 1980s, the company built up another economic pillar.

In November 2019 it became known that the Paracelsus main clinic in Osnabrück had been sold to the hospital group Niels-Stensen-Kliniken from Georgsmarienhütte. Previously, a planned participation of the municipal Clinic Osnabrück GmbH in the clinic site had failed. In addition, a collaboration between the Paracelsus clinics and the Niels Stensen clinics in the field of digitization was agreed.

criticism

In 2015, the Paracelsus Clinic Karlsruhe was banned from operating operations by the responsible supervisory authority twice, as checks repeatedly found problems with compliance with the hygiene regulations for surgical instruments. The contracts with the external service providers who processed the surgical instruments were then terminated. Renewed inspections ran smoothly until the Karlsruhe-Durlach location was closed at the end of February 2018.
