The University of Wales ( Prifysgol Cymru in Welsh ) was a federal university with member institutes in all parts of Wales . In 2011 she went to the University of Wales Trinity Saint David . The institution, founded in 1893, includes both old traditional universities such as Aberystwyth and institutions that were founded after 1992.
The administration was in Cardiff . Other locations were Swansea , Newport , Wrexham , Carmarthen and Lampeter . At the Wales Dictionary Unit operated directly by the UoW , the Geiriadur Prifysgol Cymru (University of Wales Dictionary) was published, which has the same status for the Welsh language as the Oxford English Dictionary for English.
