Elisabeth Seidl

Elisabeth Seidl (* 1939 in Vienna ) is an Austrian nursing scientist .

Life

After graduating from the Bundesrealgymnasium Schloß Traunsee in Gmunden, Upper Austria, Elisabeth Seidl completed her nursing training at the Rudolfinerhaus in Vienna between 1958 and 1961 . Working as a health and nurse in practice and teaching, Seidl completed further training in nursing education and nursing management in Zurich from 1968 to 1969 .

From 1973 to 1978 Seidl studied psychology and sociology at the University of Vienna . From 1975 to 1999 she was the nursing director and head of the health and nursing school at the Rudolfinerhaus in Vienna. This school was characterized by high standards of nursing education.

In 1992, Seidl became head of the Institute for Nursing and Health System Research at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz . In 1995 he was appointed to the Supreme Sanitary Council . Seidl qualified as a professor in 1995 in the sociology of nursing at the University of Linz and was a contract professor for nursing science at the University of Vienna from 2004 to 2007.

It has made a major contribution to establishing nursing as a science. Together with the German nursing scientist Hilde Steppe , Seidl worked on a project to come to terms with the history of National Socialism ( nursing under National Socialism ) and the social history of the nursing profession in the German-speaking area between the states of Switzerland, Austria and Germany ( history of nursing ).
