Ercan Albay (born December 4, 1954 in Samsun ) is a former Turkish football player and coach.

Player career

Albay played in his active career as a midfielder for the first division clubs Samsunspor , Adana Demirspor and Adanaspor .

National team

Albay played once for the Turkish U-21 team.

Coaching career

Albay remained loyal to the Mediterranean region after his active career. 1991 began his coaching career with Adana Gençlerbirliği . This was followed by engagements with Adana Polisgücü , Adana Demirspor , Hatayspor and Adıyamanspor . Albay celebrated his first success in the 1997/98 season. As coach of the second division Adanaspor , the team rose to the Süper Lig at the end of the season . After the rise, Albay moved again to Adıyamanspor.

After the unsuccessful season, Albay returns to Adana . In his second year he was promoted from the 3rd division to the 2nd division with Adana Demirspor . He worked for Adana Demirspor for a total of three years. This was followed by Şanlıurfaspor and Adıyamanspor , both stations were unsuccessful.

Before the start of the 2008/09 season, Ercan Albay was hired by the then third division club Mersin İdman Yurdu . In the first and only season with Mersin, he was promoted to the 2nd division. After advancing with Mersin, he left the club. Albay was no longer active for three years until he took over the coaching position at Adana Demirspor for the third time. Under his leadership, the team managed to achieve five wins in the last six games and thus qualified for the play-offs. In the play-offs, the team won two of three games and rose to the 2nd division. During the preparation for the 2012/13 season, Albay canceled his current contract.

Before the 2nd matchday of the 2013/14 season, Albay took over the second division Adanaspor for the second time in his career , replacing the resigned head coach Ekrem Al . After the 7th match day, his contract was terminated by mutual agreement.

Before the 28th matchday of the 2013/14 season, he took over Adana Demirspor as head coach for the fourth time in his coaching career. At the end of the season he left this club again.
