Mehmet Akyüz (born January 2, 1986 in Adapazarı ) is a Turkish football player .

Club career

Akyüz played for Sakaryaspor at the beginning of his career . After his first season he went on loan to Fethiyespor and then moved to Bozüyükspor . In January 2008, the midfielder moved from the 3rd division to the Süper Lig , he signed with Gençlerbirliği Ankara . But in Ankara he only came to five missions. He was loaned to Sakaryaspor, Şanlıurfaspor and Hacettepespor during his time in Ankara . In the summer of 2010 he left Gençlerbirliği and moved to the second division side Tavşanlı Linyitspor .

Akyüz had a good season at Linyitspor. He made 15 goals in 31 games and thus shot his team in the play-offs, but later it is not enough for promotion. He drew attention to himself with his performance. Beşiktaş Istanbul signed him before the start of the 2011/12 season. He played 16 league games in two seasons. His contract was terminated on July 15, 2013 and he received a severance payment of TL 256,332 .

On August 2, 2013 Akyüz signed a three-year contract with Akhisar Belediyespor .

After two seasons Akyüz moved to Çaykur Rizespor within the Süper Lig . Here he quickly established himself as a regular and high performer and ended his first season with 40 competitive appearances in which he scored eight goals. In his second season at Rizespor, he experienced several controversies with the coaching staff and the club management and was suspended as a result in March together with his teammate Ahmet İlhan Özek from the squad. After his contract was prematurely terminated in early May 2017, Akyüz moved to the second division Giresunspor .

After 13 appearances and four goals in the championship, Akyüz moved in the second half of the 2017/18 season to the relegation-threatened league competitor Denizlispor and signed for a year and a half. Here he met twelve times in 15 games and was thus instrumental in ensuring that the club was able to keep the class. In the following season he was able to celebrate the championship of the TFF 1st Lig 2018/19 and the promotion to the Süper Lig with Denizlispor . Akyüz was the team's top scorer with 15 goals.

National team

Akyüz played on May 25, 2005 for the Turkish U-19 selection against the Swedish U-19 selection.
