Tirespor is a Turkish football club from the Tire district of the Izmir province . From 1973 to 1983 the club was a permanent member of the TFF 1. Lig and has played in the regional amateur league since 1992. In the second division season 1973/74 , the club played as a provincial team the entire season for promotion and missed this with only two points difference on the master Zonguldakspor in 3rd place in the table.

history

founding

The club was originally founded as Tirespor in the 1960s and established itself as a talent factory. In 1967 Mehmet was sold to Mersin İdman Yurdu . In addition, in 1968 the goalkeeper Mustafa Güngören was given to Altınordu Izmir , who later moved to the traditional Turkish club Beşiktaş Istanbul .

As part of a project for the nationwide establishment and promotion of professional football, which the Turkish Football Association (TFF) had started in the 1960s, the third highest professional football league, the 3rd Lig , now known as TFF 2nd Lig , was established in the summer of 1967 . introduced. In addition, it was announced that one could apply for participation in the league after certain conditions had been met. The league was constantly expanded in the following seasons, as more and more teams met the requirements and applied for participation in the 3rd league. In order to promote urban development, several city notables in Tire , above all Ayhan Gülcüoğlu , tried to meet the requirements with Tirespor and to participate in the 3rd league. Since the enormous demand for participation was above expectations, the football association declared that it would not allow any new professional clubs to be set up and only accept teams in the 3rd league that were already registered as a registered club. Since Tirespor had no official registration as a registered club with the national football association at that time, participation in the 3rd league was not possible. In order to circumvent this admission clause, some district towns took over less popular but already registered associations in larger metropolitan areas such as Istanbul or Izmir and brought this association to the city. In the summer of 1970, the rather unknown association Izmir Egespor was bought from the provincial capital of Izmir and renamed Tire Egespor . Therefore, 1970 was included in the club logo as the founding year. Gülcüoğlu was then elected the first club president. After the conditions had been met with this newly founded club, the Turkish Football Association confirmed participation.

Entry into professional football

After confirmation of participation by the TFF, Tire Egespor took part in the third league in the 1970/71 season and was in 14th place in the white group at the end of the season . The club was already synonymous with Tire Egespor, also known as Tirespor , by many media .

Promotion to the 2nd league and the second division seasons

After playing against relegation in the 1971/72 third division season and staying in relegation at the end of the season, the 1972/73 season started mixed . For the second half of this season Kadri Aytaç took over the coaching position at Tire Egespor. Under Aytaç, Tire Egespor quickly took the lead in the standings and confidently led the table over the entire period. At the end of the season they reached the championship of the 3rd Lig and rose to the highest Turkish league, the 2nd Lig. Raised to the 2nd Lig, Aytaç coached the club, which has now been renamed Tirespor, for another season. Promoted to the 2nd Lig, they played the entire season for promotion as a provincial team and missed it with only two points difference to the master Zonguldakspor in 3rd place in the table.

After this most successful season in the club's history, Aytaç left the club. The following seasons were mostly played against relegation and even achieved relegation a few times only because the respective season was played without relegation.

Relegation to the amateur league and renewed promotion to the 3rd Lig

After the second division season 1982/83 had ended with six points difference to the penultimate as bottom of the table, the club had to relegate regional amateur league after ten years of membership in the second division. Since the third highest Turkish league was abolished in the summer of 1980, the second division relegated had to relegate to the regional amateur league.

After just one season, the 3rd league was reintroduced and several teams from the regional amateur leagues were included in this league. Resumed in the 3rd Lig one played mostly against relegation. For the 1990/91 season they lured several seasoned players like İrfan Ertürk with relatively high promises . After the promises could not be kept, these players left the club. Due to the mismanagement of the club's management, the club got into ever greater financial difficulties, so that at the end of the 1991/92 season it was relegated to the regional amateur league.

Current situation

After relegation to the amateur league in the summer of 1992, the club did not recover and has since played in the lower amateur leagues.
