The Türkiye 3. Futbol Ligi 1990/91 was the 20th season of the third highest Turkish division in professional men's football. It was started on September 8, 1990 with the 1st game day and ended on May 19, 1991 with the 34th and final game day.

Competition mode

The 1990/91 season, the 3rd Lig was played as a nine-track league like the preseason . The total number of teams increased from 136 to 161. These 161 teams played in nine groups for promotion to the 2nd league or against relegation to the regional amateur leagues. The division of the league was carried out regionally, so that all teams in a group came from neighboring or close to one another provinces . All first placed went straight to the 2nd Lig , while the relegated were the bottom of the table.

Beginning of the season were the remaining from the previous season 122 Teams nine relegated from the 2. Lig Bartinspor , Carsambaspor , Bulancakspor , Trakya Birlik Edirnespor , Menemenspor , Ispartaspor , Iskenderunspor , Sanliurfaspor , Erzincanspor , the 30 newcomers Gümüşhane Köy Hizmetleri , Suluovaspor , Koy Hizmetleri Sinopspor , Kars Köy Hizmetleri Spor , Igdirspor , Ceyhanspor , Afşinspor , Kirsehirspor , Ankara Emniyetspor , Kemer Belediyespor , Antalya Köy Hizmetleri SK , Konya Ereglispor , Karamanspor , Burdurgücü , Alpetspor , Ödemişspor , Alaşehirspor , Ege Linyitspor , Selçuk Efes Spor , Mudanyaspor , Bilecikspor , S.Merinosspor , Nişantaşıspor , Keşanspor , Erdekspor , Çengelköyspor , Küçükköyspor , Ümraniyespor , Petkimspor have been added. The newcomers were either accepted as champions from the then fourth-class regional amateur leagues or had met the requirements of the Turkish Football Association and were allowed to participate in the third division.

Bafraspor ( group 1 ), Muşspor ( group 2 ), Tarsus İdman Yurdu ( group 3 ), Kayserispor ( group 4 ), Ispartaspor ( group 5 ), Manisaspor ( group 6 ), Bozüyükspor ( group 7 ), S. Küçükçekmecespor ( group 8 ) and Üsküdar Anadolu SK ( group 9 ) achieved the championship of the 3rd league in their groups and thus direct promotion to the 2nd league .

At the end of the season, Group 1 Görelespor , Group 2 Iğdırspor , Group 3 Afşinspor , Group 4 Sivas Demirspor , Group 5 Denizli Sarayköyspor , Group 6 Menemenspor Group 7 İznikspor , Group 8 Erdekspor and Group 9 Petkimspor were relegated to the regional amateur league.

Before the start of the season, the club Tedaş 12 Martspor was renamed TEK 12 Martspor . Kemerspor rose to the 3rd Lig under its new name Kemer Belediyespor . In addition, the Milas Esnafspor club changed its name to Yeni Milasspor at the start of the season . Akyazıspor also changed its name to AS Akyazı SK and Sakarya Karadenizspor to Adapazarıspor . The newcomers to the league Gümüşhane Köy Hizmetleri and Köy Hizmetleri Sinopspor were called Gümüşhanespor and Sinopspor before they rose .
