Üsküdar Anadolu 1908 SK (previous name: Üsküdar Anadolu SK ) is a football club from the Istanbul district and district of Üsküdar . The club plays its home games at Beylerbeyi 75th Yıl Stadium .
history
founding
The association was founded in 1907 under the leadership of the then eighteen-year-old Burhan Felek , a later well-known Turkish journalist and writer, his brother Hüdai Bey and ten to 15 friends. On this occasion, the friends in the house of Felek, which had in the İhsaniye Mahallesi in Asian Istanbul district of Üsküdar was hit and decided the club was founded. From then on, the young people met regularly at the Feleks. Since many families did not like playing football for young people at that time, the club was not registered for the time being. After one of these meetings, when Burhan Felek was absent, the relatives were arrested. At this point in time the Second Ottoman constitutional period came into force, which strictly forbade a meeting of Turkish youths. The members were released after they had declared that they were the board of directors of the Üsküdar Anadolu SK association , but Burhan Felek was advised to register the association with the authorities in order to avoid such arrests in the future. As a result, the association was registered as a registered association in 1908, which is why the founding year is 1908. In 1908 consideration was given to merging with the traditional Istanbul club and the club in the neighboring district of Kadıköy Fenerbahçe , but the merger did not materialize. While the club colors were set to green and yellow during the inception, they were later changed to green and white.
The first years
After the club was founded, the club took part in the Cuma Ligi ('Friday League') until 1914. Due to the occupation of Istanbul as part of the Turkish Liberation Wars by the Triple Entente, there were many crews from the occupying powers at this time. While the foreign teams played in the Pazar Ligi (German Sunday League ), the Turkish teams played in the Friday League. Only Fenerbahçe Istanbul and Galatasaray Istanbul played in the Pazar Ligi and achieved several successes against the teams of the occupying powers. Some of the other Turkish teams refused to play in a league with the foreign teams.
By the 1914/15 season, all teams of the occupying powers gradually stopped playing, so that a purely Turkish league could be played for the first time in this season. In the summer of 1914, for example, with the İstanbul Futbol Birliği Ligi (German 1st Istanbul Football League ), a first Istanbul football league with purely local teams was founded again since the occupation of Istanbul. Except for Fenerbahçe, who did not participate in the league on the grounds that they had a weak squad, all of the larger teams, including Üsküdar Anadolu SK , took part in this league. For Fenerbahçe, Süleymaniye Sirkeci SK took part in the league instead . Fenerbahçe instead took on the newly founded but less noticed İstanbul Şampiyonluğu Ligi (German Istanbul Championship League ).
After just one season, both leagues merged to form the new Cuma Ligi . Üsküdar Anadolu either participated in the Cuma Ligi until 1923 or from 1919 to 1923 in the İstanbul Türk İdman Birliği Ligi or Pazar Ligi . In both leagues there were every team that did not make it into the Cuma Ligi.
After the end of the occupation, İstanbul Futbol Ligi was founded in the summer of 1923 . All major Istanbul teams, including Üsküdar Anadolu, took part in this league. This league existed as the highest Istanbul league and the most prestigious league in Turkey until the summer of 1952. The league lost this status in the summer of 1952 with the establishment of the Istanbul Profesyonel Ligi . All bigger teams like Beşiktaş Istanbul , Galatasaray Istanbul , Fenerbahçe Istanbul , Vefa Istanbul etc. left the İstanbul Futbol Ligi and played in the İstanbul Profesyonel Ligi from then on . Üsküdar Anadolu stayed in the İstanbul Futbol Ligi and played here until the 1970s. During this time you lost contact with the big Istanbul clubs and rather lived in the amateur leagues.
Entry into professional football
For the 1970/71 season Anadolu SK reached participation in the third highest Turkish league, the 3rd Lig , and the first participation in a professional league. In this league they played until the summer of 1977 and rose again to the regional amateur league after missing relegation. After the 3rd league was abolished in the summer of 1980 and merged with the second highest division, the 2nd league , the champions of the regional amateur leagues rose directly to the 2nd league. In the summer of 1981, Anadolu SK achieved their first participation in the amateur league championship Club history in the 2nd league. In this league they played for the next six seasons and rose in the summer of 1987 in the 1984 re-introduced 3rd Lig.
After the club had finished the third division season in 1990/91 as champions of group 9 , they rose again to the second league after four years of abstinence. Promoted to the 2nd Lig, they played four seasons against relegation. After you achieved relegation for three seasons, you missed him in the second division season in 1994/95 and had to make your way to the 3rd league.
The following six seasons played the club in the third highest division. In summer 2001 they missed relegation due to the penultimate place in the table and after 20 years they had to relegate back to the regional amateur league.
Takeover of Öz Sahrayıceditspor and change of name to Üsküdar Anadolu 1908 SK
In the summer of 2000, the then Üsküdar- based second division club Öz Sahrayıceditspor was bought by the Üsküdar district administration. After Üsküdar Anadolu SK was relegated to the regional amateur league in the summer of 2001, they tried to rename Öz Sahrayıceditspor in Üsküdar Anadolu SK and thus enable the further participation of Üsküdar Anadolu SK in the professional leagues. The Turkish Football Association (TFF) rejected this planned name change. Instead, those responsible changed Öz Sahrayıceditspor to Üsküdar Anadolu 1908 SK and received approval from the national association. In the new club name only the addition 1908 was added, whereby the club logo and the club colors of Üsküdar Anadolu SK were adopted without change. The actually Üsküdar Anadolu SK was continued as a second team and continued to play in the Istanbul amateur leagues. Both teams are run as two separate clubs at the TFF. Under this new name, the club played in the TFF 2nd Lig until the summer of 2006 and then rose to the fourth highest Turkish league, the TFF 3rd Lig .
Modern times
Since the mid-2000s, the club has been the second team of the first division side Sivasspor . Sivasspor lends young talents to Üsküdar Anadolu on favorable terms to enable these players to play in a professional league. I.a. played Ziya Erdal , Muhammed Ali Atam and Burçağ Basel for Üsküdar Anadolu before they could establish themselves at Sivasspor.
In the spring of 2013 it became known that the city administration had confiscated the club's stadium.
In the fourth division season 2014/15 , the team with Sakaryaspor and Ankara Demirspor delivered a head-to-head race for the championship. After the autumn championship was awarded to Sakaryaspor, the club took the lead on matchday 27 and finished the season confidently as champions. Thus, after nine years, the club rose again to the third highest Turkish league, the TFF 2nd Lig . Two seasons later, the team missed the league by reaching 16th place in the table and was relegated back to the TFF 3rd Lig.
