Cafer Aydın (born November 17, 1971 in Çorum ) is a former Turkish football player and coach.

Player career

society

Aydın began playing club football in the youth department of the capital city club Gençlerbirliği Ankara and was awarded a professional contract in the summer of 1990 and was accepted into the squad of the professional team. Here he was set up by head coach Jozef Jarabinský in the first league game of the 1990/91 season in the starting lineup. In this game, Aydın made his professional debut and also scored his first goal. In the further course of the season he completed 14 more league appearances. With the 1991/92 season he rose to become a regular player and was the second most successful goalscorer of his team with seven goals this season behind his teammate Avni Okumuş .

After he had also started for Gençlerbirliği in the 1992/93 season, he was handed over to league rivals Kayserispor in early December 1992 . For this club he completed almost all league games by the end of the season, but he scored only one goal as a striker. For the new season he stayed with this club until November 1993 and then joined MKE Ankaragücü . For the capital city he was only active until the end of the season and was then loaned to the league rivals Antalyaspor for the 1994/95 season. The next season he was kept in the squad by head coach Ali Osman Renklibay at Ankaragücü . Aydın was the most successful goalscorer of his team this season with eight league goals and set a new career record for himself.

With his contract at Ankaragücü he left this club in the summer of 1996 and moved to league rivals Antalyaspor. At this club he improved again, scored eleven league goals, was again the most successful goalscorer of his team and set a new career record. After his club hired a new head coach with Şenol Güneş for the 1997/98 season , Aydın only played the first half of the season for Antalyaspor and was loaned to league rivals Bursaspor for the second half .

In the summer of 1998 Aydın moved from Antalyaspor to league rivals Adanaspor . At this club he took part in the pre-season preparatory camp, but was put on the list of players who should be loaned at the start of the season by head coach Fuad Muzurović . Aydın played one season on loan for second division club Çaykur Rizespor . For the new season he returned to Adanaspor and started the new season for this club. At this club he could not prevail against the other strikers Cenk İşler , Alban Bushi , Ali Asım Balkaya and Altan Aksoy .

Aydın left Adanaspor in 1999 and returned to his previous club, Ankaragücü. At this club he formed a successful offensive team with Tarık Daşgün , Hakan Keleş and Ohene Kennedy . Aydın scored eleven goals in 17 league games for Ankaragücü this season, making him the club's most successful goalscorer. Since he had scored three goals for Adanaspor this season, he came up with a total of 16 league goals. He set a new career record and was sixth on the top scorer list of the 1999/2000 first division season . For the new season, Aydin’s club signed Ersun Yanal, a new coach. Aydın did not work under this trainer until December 2000. He was then used 16 times by the end of the season and scored nine goals. His club finished the season in 6th place in the table and achieved the best first division placement in twelve years. In the 2000/01 season he lost his regular place to the new striker Augustine Ahinful .

After Aydın had worked for Ankaragücü until November 2001, he moved to city and league rivals and his first club, Gençlerbirliği. For this club he scored three goals in 18 league games by the end of the season. His Ankaragücü coach was introduced to Gençlerbirliği as the new head coach in the summer of 2002. This coach relied on strikers like Veysel Cihan , Ahmed Hassan , Souleymane Youla and Thomas Zdebel , but always gave Aydın the opportunity to prove himself with games. After Aydın remained goalless in nine league appearances until the winter break, he left this club and moved within the league to his former club Adanaspor. Here he made it back into the team and finished the second half of the season with twelve league appearances and five goals.

In the 2003/04 season, Aydın started at Anadaspor, but was given up to league rivals Denizlispor in August 2003 . For this club he only played until the next winter break and moved to the second division Manisaspor without being able to assert himself . With this club he finished the second division season 2004/05 as runner-up and was involved in the first league promotion in the club's history. After the promotion, Aydın stayed with Manisaspor, but did not get beyond the reserve role.

In the summer of 2005, Aydın moved to the third division Eskişehirspor . Here he completed only four league games by the end of the season, but was included in the squad of the team that brought the play-offs of the 2005/06 season with the club and thus rose to the second Turkish league. Aydın only played half a season in the second division and then moved to the third division club Erzincanspor . He stayed with this club until the end of the season and then ended his career.

On the occasion of the Mediterranean Games in 1993 he was appointed to the squad of the Olympic selection of Turkey, which was also supervised by Terim. Aydın completed an encounter in this tournament and won the gold medal with his team.

In June 1997, Mustafa Denizli nominated him for the first time in the squad of the Turkish national team as part of the tournament participation in the Kirin Cup . In the game against the Croatian national team , Aydın made his senior international debut. In the further course of the tournament, he completed his second and last A international match against the Japanese selection .

After two months he left this club and in November 2009 he looked after another Istanbul club for one month with Beykozspor .
