Hakan Keleş (born January 8, 1972 in Sakarya ) is a former Turkish football player and current coach. Due to his many years of work for MKE Ankaragücü , he is strongly associated with this club and is viewed by club and fan sites as one of the most important players in the club's history.

Player career

Keleş began his professional career in 1993 with the third division club Edirnespor . Here he quickly established himself as a regular player and contributed with his 15 goals in 24 league games to the fact that his club finished the 1993/94 season as champions and achieved promotion to the 2nd Turkish league . After this successful season he was signed by the first division club Bursaspor in the summer of 1994 . Here he played for two seasons and then moved within the league to newly promoted Ankara Şekerspor . Although his team played against relegation from the start of the season, Keleş immediately established itself as a top performer and was one of the most successful players of the 1997/98 first division season with 10 league players .

After failing to stay up with Şekerspor, Keleş moved to city and league rivals MKE Ankaragücü , the club where he should spend the most successful time of his career. Here Keleş established himself straight away as a regular player and top performer, but played more against relegation in his first two seasons with the capital city. He formed a successful offensive team at this club with Tarık Daşgün , Cafer Aydın , Faruk Namdar and Ohene Kennedy . For the new season, Keleş 'club signed Ersun Yanal, a new coach, with whom the club should be back in the top quarter of the table after almost 20 years. Under this coach, Keleş retained his position as a regular player. His club finished the 2000/01 season in 6th place in the table and achieved the best first division placement for twelve years. In the following season, Keleş contributed to the fact that his club increased its previous year's performance, achieved the best first division placement for 17 years with 4th place in the table and qualified for the UEFA Cup . After Yaal's departure at the end of the season, Keleş began to play with his club again rather against relegation, but he himself kept his regular place until his own departure in January 2005 and also wore the captain's armband at times.

In January 2008 he moved to the second division Antalyaspor . Here, too, he quickly established himself as a top performer and reached the runner-up with his club at the end of the 2005/06 season and thus direct promotion to the Süper Lig . After this promotion he received no contract extension and moved to the new season for the second division club Çanakkale Dardanelspor . Here he played for two seasons and then ended his career.

Coaching career

After the end of his playing career, Keleş decided to pursue a career as a coach and, in 2008, looked after the U-15 team of MKE Ankaragücü as his first activity. He then carried out the same job at Giresunspor . In December 2011 he worked at the troubled first division club MKE Ankaragücü as an assistant coach and assisted his long-time teammate Hakan Kutlu , with whom he had played all his time at Ankaragücü.

In 2012 he started working as head coach for the first time and was in charge of the amateur club Tatvan Gençlerbirliği . In 2014 he coached this club again. This was followed by assistant coaching activities at the clubs Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediyespor , Bucaspor and Mersin İdman Yurdu .

In November 2017 he took over the reserve team of the first division club Sivasspor , the U-21 team. For the new season he was promoted to assistant coach of the professional team and assisted Tamer Tuna . After Tuna's release in November 2018, he was promoted to head coach, coaching a professional team as head coach for the first time in his career. Since he does not have the necessary coaching license, he continued to be run as an assistant coach, while his actual assistant coach Ersel Uzğur is run as the official head coach.
