Kastamonuspor 1966 is a Turkish football club from Kastamonu . The Green-Whites play their home games in the Gazi Stadium . This association is the official successor association of the historical association Kastamonuspor . The people in charge of this highly indebted club filed for bankruptcy in the summer of 2014 and reorganized under the name Kastamonuspor in 1966 after a merger with Tosya Belediyespor , the football club of the neighboring district town of Tosya .

history

founding

The club was founded on March 18, 1950 under the direction of Sabahattin Çelengil with the club colors green and black and took part in the following years in the regional amateur league. In 1964, the Turkish Football Association decided to start a project whereby all Turkish provinces could participate in professional football. Up to this point in time, the clubs from Istanbul , Ankara , Izmir and Adana played the championships in professional football among themselves. The association then developed two professional sub-leagues of today's Süper Lig , the 2nd division and the 3rd division . At least one team from each province was accepted into these two leagues, depending on their strength. In 1966, Kastamonuspor merged with Çamsu Gençlik SK and thus took part in the game in the second highest Turkish league, today's TFF 1st Lig , for the 1967/68 season . The club colors were set to red and black and were intended as an homage to AC Milan .

Systemic relegation to the TFF 3rd Lig

Since Turkish professional football was to undergo fundamental changes in the 2001/02 season, preparations for this change were made in the 2000/01 season. So far, professional football in Turkey has consisted of three leagues: the top division, the single-lane Türkiye 1. Futbol Ligi , the second-rate five-lane and two-stage Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi and the third-rate, eight -lane Türkiye 3. Futbol Ligi . For the 2001/02 season, professional football was expanded to four professional leagues. While the Türkiye 1. Futbol Ligi remained unchanged, the Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi was now in the second highest division, the Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi Aategorisi (to German: 2. Football League Category A of Turkey ), and the third highest division , the Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi Bategorisi (to German: 2. Football League Category B of Turkey ), divided. The subordinate Türkiye 3rd Futbol Ligi was henceforth the fourth highest division, the TFF 3rd Lig . Those teams that only occupied a middle place in the table in the third division 2000/01 season were assigned to the newly created fourth-highest Turkish division, the 3rd league, for the coming season. Kastamonuspor, which had finished the league in 13th place in the table, had to relegate to the 3rd Lig due to the system.

Fourth league years and relegation to the amateur league

From 2001 to 2013 the club played in the fourth highest Turkish league, the TFF 3rd Lig . In the fourth division season 2012/13 , the team missed the relegation of the TFF 3rd Lig and rose again after 29 years of membership in the professional league in amateur football.

Bankruptcy and reorganization to Kastamonuspor 1966

After relegation to the amateur league, he played club in the Boelgesel Amatoer Lig , the fifth highest division. Here, too, the club played against relegation. In addition to its financial problems and the difficulties of putting together a powerful squad, the highly indebted club received a three-point deduction from the national football association. This made it even more difficult to stay in the league and the club was relegated as penultimate. After this relegation, those responsible for the club discussed the future of the club, including with Tahsin Babaş , the mayor of Kastamonu. They decided to give up the bankrupt association and reorganize themselves under a new association and thus free of debt. In the summer of 2014, an agreement was reached on a club handover or merger with those responsible for the club with Tosya Belediyespor , the soccer club of the neighboring district town of Tosya . Thereafter, those responsible for the Kastamonuspor association took over the association rights from Tosya Belediyespor and reorganized under the name Kastamonuspor in 1966 .

Modern times

Already in the first season after the re-formation under Kastamonuspor in 1966, the team led Group 5 of the Boelgesel Amatoer Lig for almost the entire season as leaders of the table and rose to the end of the season as champions in the TFF 3rd Lig, the lowest Turkish professional league.

After returning to the Turkish professional league, the team also played for the championship in the fourth division season 2015/16 and ended the first half of the season as autumn champions. In addition, the club caused a stir in the Turkish Cup . In the 2015/16 cup season , the team eliminated a third division club with Anadolu Selçukspor and a first division club with Kasımpaşa Istanbul and qualified as one of two fourth division teams for the group stage of this competition.

In the fourth division season 2015/16 , the team quickly conquered the championship lead. After this was briefly lost to Niğde Belediyespor , the team fought back to lead the table after two days. The team expanded its lead in the standings and secured the championship three days before the end of the season and thus promotion to the TFF 2nd Lig .
