Player career

societies

Tunç learned to play football in the youth department of the first division club MKE Ankaragücü . In 1994 he switched to the third division Kastamonuspor as a professional player . At this club he made his first experiences as a professional player and returned to Ankaragücü as a professional player after one season and twelve league games. In the course of his first season he won a regular place at the first division club Ankaragücü and kept it until he left in the summer of 1997. During his last two years with the capital city, he rose to the Turkish U-21 international and was one of the youngsters in the league.

For the 1997/98 season he moved to Gaziantepspor within the first division . In this club Tunç conquered a regular place straight away. His club fought for relegation at the end of the season and only avoided it on the last day of the game. For the 1998/98 season Hüseyin Kalpar took over the coaching position at Gaziantepspor. With this coach, the club caused several surprises and ended the season in 7th place in the table. In the 1999/2000 season Kalpar left Gaziantepspor after two matchdays and was replaced by Sakıp Özberk . Under this new coach Tunç kept his regular place and rose with his performances to the Turkish national player . His team finished the season third, achieved the best placement in the club's history and qualified for the UEFA Cup. The club started the new season with the new coach Erdoğan Arıca . Arıca was replaced by his predecessor Özberk after the 15th matchday. Under this coach, Tunç's team kept a small point deficit to the top of the table until the end of the season and retained their chance of the championship. On the penultimate matchday, Gaziantepspor met Galatasaray Istanbul in their home game . This team was only two points ahead of second place in the table. In the event of a win, Tunç's team would have replaced Galatasaray in second place in the table and given a great chance of second place in the Champion League. Gaziantepspor lost the hard-fought game. The season ended the club in 3rd place in the table and thus repeated the club's record. In the new season Tunç lost his regular place and only played about half of the possible games.

After Tunç had lost his regular seat at Gaziantepspor, he was loaned to the league rivals Diyarbakırspor for the 2002/03 season. Here, Hüseyin Kalpar, a former coach from Tunç, worked, who brought his old player to his new place of work. After his loan period at this club, he finally moved to Diyarbakırspor in the summer of 2003. After another year at Diyarbakırspor, Tunç hired in the summer of 2004 at the newly promoted Ankaraspor and played here for the next three and a half seasons. For the second half of the 2007/08 season Tunç Ankaraspor left towards city rivals Etimesgut Şekerspor , but returned to Ankaraspor in the summer of 2008.

After his second period at Ankaraspor, he played for Bugsaş Spor and ended his active football career here in spring 2012.

National team

Tunç played several times for the Turkish U-21 national team during his time at MKE Ankaragücü and Gaziantepspor . Between his appearances for the U-21s, Tunç was nominated for the first time in the squad of the Turkish national team in a test match and made his international debut during the game on February 12, 1997 against the Finnish national team .

With the Olympic selection of Turkey, Tunç took part in the Mediterranean Games in 1997 and won the silver medal.

During his most successful club career, Tunç was nominated two more times for the squad of the Turkish national team in 2000 and 2001 and completed two more international matches.
