Başkent Akademi FK is a Turkish football club from Sincan County in Ankara Province . The black-red-whites play their home games in Ankara Ostim Stadı .

history

founding

The club was founded in 1984 under the name Egospor as the football team of the E lektrik- G az- O tobüs-Betriebe ( EGO for short , German: Strom-Gas-Omnibus-Betriebe) of the Ankara City Administration under the patronage of the Mayor of Ankara, Melih Gökçek , founded.

Systemic relegation to the TFF 3rd Lig

Since Turkish professional football was to undergo fundamental changes in the 2001/02 season, preparations for this change were made in the 2000/01 season. So far, professional football in Turkey has consisted of three leagues: the top division, the single-lane Türkiye 1. Futbol Ligi , the second-rate five-lane and two-stage Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi and the third-rate, eight -lane Türkiye 3. Futbol Ligi . For the 2001/02 season, professional football was expanded to four professional leagues. While the Türkiye 1. Futbol Ligi remained unchanged, the Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi was now in the second highest division, the Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi Aategorisi (to German: 2. Football League Category A of Turkey ), and the third highest division , the Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi Bategorisi (to German: 2. Football League Category B of Turkey ), divided. The subordinate Türkiye 3rd Futbol Ligi was henceforth the fourth highest division, the TFF 3rd Lig . Those teams that only occupied a middle place in the table in the third division 2000/01 season were assigned to the newly created fourth-highest Turkish division, the 3rd league, for the coming season. Egospor, which had finished the league in 4th place in the table, had to relegate to the 3rd Lig due to the system.

Renamed to Bugsaş Spor

In the summer of 2005, the club was taken over again under the patronage of Melih Gökçek by the Bugsaş companies, a conglomerate of transport and gas companies in the Ankara capital city administration, and as the football team in Bugsaş Spor A.Ş. renamed. The club is also used as a kind of second team by Osmanlıspor FK , the operating team of the Ankara city administration, where Melih Gökçek is also on the board.

Modern times

Club coat of arms which was used for about a year from the name change to Polatlı Bugsaşspor in the summer of 2012

In the 2011/12 season, the TFF 2nd Lig was completed in fourth place. So they qualified for the play-offs of the TFF 2nd Lig, were eliminated here in the semifinals against Adana Demirspor and missed promotion to the TFF 1st Lig .

In the summer of 2012, the club changed its name to Polatlı Bugsaşspor , changed its logo and moved to the provincial town of Polatlı , a county seat of Ankara Province . The club played their games partly in the Yenikent Asaş Stadium and partly in the new home stadium Polatlı District Stadium . The third division season 2012/13 ended the club third in the table and thus qualified for the play-off phase of the TFF 2. Lig . As for the season 2013/14 Ankaraspor , the former home club from Bugsasspor, participating in the TFF 1. Lig enforced in court and Bugsasspor could even theoretically also rise in this league who asked Turkish Football Federation of Polatlı Bugsasspor to explain to Ankaraspor his relationship. So the association wanted to determine whether the old relationship with Ankaraspor still existed. The background to this investigation was a regulation of the national football association, according to which no related clubs were allowed to participate in a league. After Bugsaşspor failed to comply adequately with the request, the association declared the old relationship with Ankaraspor to exist and denied Bugsaşspor participation in the play-offs. Instead, the sixth placed Nazilli Belediyespor took part in the play-offs. An appeal by Bugsaşspor against this judgment was dismissed.

After this judgment four players moved from Polatlı Bugsaşspor to Ankaraspor. This fact confirmed the association's assessment. In the summer of 2013 the club changed its name back to Bugsaşspor . This time, however, instead of the previous spelling Bugsaş Spor, the spelling was Bugsaşspor . The club logo was changed back to the previous year's variant and the club returned to its old place of activity, Ankara. As a result of these changes, the connection to Ankaraspor was also reopened.

For the 2019/20 season, Bugsaşspor was renamed Başkent Akademi Futbol Kulübü .
