Oktay Derelioğlu (born December 17, 1975 in Karagümrük , Istanbul ) is a former Turkish football player .
Career
society
His professional football career began in 1985 with the Istanbul club Fatih Karagümrük SK . At the age of 14, he made the leap to the first men's team. In his second season with the first men, he scored five goals in 19 second division games as a 16-year-old and attracted the attention of several first division clubs. While Beşiktaş Istanbul hesitantly tried to sign up and Derelioğlu's club offered training material instead of a transfer fee, Trabzonspor 's club president Sadri Şener contacted the club management in the summer of 1992 and signed Derelioğlu for a transfer fee of 100,000 US dollars . at the Black Sea club, the 17-year-old Derelioğlu could not prevail against his fellow strikers and moved to Beşiktaş Istanbul at the end of the season.
In the first half of the season he was very successful, so that he was also appointed to the Turkish national team. His goal in the international match against Belgium went down as one of the most spectacular goals in Turkish football history. He played several Belgians out in a solo and then scored a goal. In the following season he injured himself several times and could no longer perform consistently. In 1997, his wife committed suicide ; he found a new partner in the fiancée of his former football colleague Serdar Topraktepe . This led to a lawsuit and was also the reason why he had to leave Beşiktaş. He then played for Siirt Jetpaspor and Gaziantepspor .
In 2000 he played in the Spanish league for the club UD Las Palmas , where he could not prevail. In 2001 he moved back to Trabzonspor, where he stayed only briefly and moved to Fenerbahçe Istanbul . In the 2003/04 season he played for half a season at 1. FC Nürnberg , and in the second half of the season he moved back to the Turkish league at Samsunspor . In the following years he played for Akçaabat Sebatspor , İstanbulspor and Yalovaspor . In the 2004/05 season he played under the Turkish coach Rasim Kara at FK Xəzər Lənkəran in Azerbaijan . He was named the top scorer and best player of the season. In 2007 he moved back to his hometown club Fatih Karagümrük SK and ended his career there. In the future he wants to work as a trainer.
