The Pipestone River is a headwaters of the Winisk River in the Kenora District in the northwest of the Canadian province of Ontario .
The Pipestone River rises north of Whitestone Lake . It initially flows in an easterly direction, later in a predominantly north-northeast direction through the Canadian Shield . It flows through Horseshoe Lake . Important tributaries are the Morris River from the right and the Opapimiskan River and Wachusk River from the left. Some of the water from Kingfisher Lake flows into the Pipestone River near Big Beaver House . Eventually the Pipestone River flows into the western end of Wunnummin Lake . The Pipestone River has a length of about 280 km. Much of the river is in the Pipestone River Provincial Park .
