Sadettin Tekelioğlu better known under the name Sadi Tekelioğlu (born January 15, 1955 in Trabzon ) is a Turkish football coach. Because he was born and raised in the city of Trabzon, he is associated with Trabzonspor . He also openly shows his loyalty to this club. He is a cousin of Ergun Gürsoys , a former Galatasaray Istanbul club official .

Coaching career

The beginnings of Tekelioğlu's coaching career are largely undocumented. His first recorded activity was the head of the Trabzonspor youth department in the first half of the 1980s . His first recorded activity as head coach was in 1990 for the then Turkish third division club Bafraspor . After two seasons, he was hired as an assistant coach at Gençlerbirliği Ankara and held this position for a season.

In the summer of 1993 he took over the second division team Erzurumspor and coached this club for two years. After a one-year job at Kastamonuspor, he assisted the head coach Metin Türel at Gençlerbirliği from summer 1996 . After Türel left the club in November, Tekelioğlu looked after the first division club until the end of the season.

He then took over the second division Erzurumspor for the 1997/98 season for a second time, and with this club at the end of the season through the championship of the TFF 1. Lig the first ascent in the club's history to the highest Turkish league, the Süper Lig . Despite this success, he left the club and went to the second division Konyaspor . He left this club in March 1999 and accepted the offer from his old club, the first division club Erzurumspor, which is now seriously threatened by relegation. At the end of the season he managed to stay up and continued to train the club for the coming season. After a 6-0 league defeat on the 6th match day of the 1999/00 season against Gaziantepspor Tekelioğlu announced his resignation.

Even from Trabzon , he took over the traditional club Trabzonspor for the second half of the season and replaced the head coach Giray Bulak . Here he stayed far below expectations, especially in the 2000/01 season and came close to relegation places with his team. As a consequence, Trabzonspor separated from Tekelioğlu in November 2001 and replaced him with the German coach Hans-Peter Briegel .

Tekelioğlu himself took a break after separating from Trabzonspor until the summer of 2002 and took over the then second division representation of the province of Trabzon , the club Akçaabat Sebatspor , for the 2002/03 season . With this team he finished the season third in the TFF 1st Lig and rose to the highest Turkish league, the Süper Lig. At the end of the season he left this club and took over the second division team Sakaryaspor . After a year at Sakaryaspor, he was hired again at Akçaabat Sebatspor, but resigned after eleven match days.

The following time he trained various teams in the TFF 1st Lig and TFF 2nd Lig . With Adana Demirspor he missed the end of the 2007/08 season in the TFF 2. Lig and promotion because of a point. Instead, he qualified with his team for the playoffs of the league, in which the last climber was played by knockout system . Despite this qualification, Tekelioğlu surprisingly resigned from his position. After working in the youth department of Trabzonspor from 2009 to 2011, he took over the third division team Sarıyer SK in summer 2011 . Here he resigned from his coaching position after the 24th matchday.

Since summer 2013 he has been working again for the Trabzonspors youth department. After the Georgian head coach Schota Arweladze was dismissed in November 2015 , Tekelioğlu took over Arweladze on an interim basis. After a new club president, Muharrem Usta , was elected in December 2015 , Tekelioğlu was hired as head coach until further notice. At the beginning of January 2015, he handed over his office to Hami Mandıralı .
