İbrahim Metin Türel (born September 13, 1937 in Istanbul ; † November 17, 2018 there ) was a Turkish football goalkeeper and coach.

Career

Athletic career

Metin Türel started his career at Galatasaray Istanbul . He was not used for the yellow-reds . Engagements at PTT , İstanbulspor , Vefa Istanbul and Afyonspor followed .

Coaching career

Türel's first coaching job was at Vefa Istanbul in 1969. There he succeeded Cihat Arman . They finished the 1968/69 season in 13th place. In the 1969/70 season, Türel was dismissed after a draw and four defeats. A season later he was hired again as coach of Vefa for the 6th matchday. In the summer of 1971 he left Vefa Istanbul.

In the summer of 1973 Türel was the new coach of Beşiktaş Istanbul . In his first year with the black and whites , Türel was runner-up. He won with his team then both the Başbakanlık Kupası and the Cumhurbaşkanlığı Kupası . For Türel it was the first two titles of his career. In November 1974, Türel was unexpectedly dismissed. From February 1977 to October 1979 the former goalkeeper was the head coach of Turkey .

In the summer of 1980, Türel came to Beşiktaş Istanbul for a second time. After four match days he was fired and he was replaced by Enver Katip . This was followed by Zonguldakspor and Fatih Karagümrük SK . Türel achieved the next success in the 1986/87 season with Gençlerbirliği Ankara . They defeated Eskişehirspor in the Turkish Cup . It should also be his last title as a coach.

Metin Türel then became a coach at Trabzonspor , Adana Demirspor , Saudi Arabia , Rwanda , Antalyaspor , Samsunspor and İstanbulspor.
