The Türkiye 3. Futbol Ligi 1986/87 was the 16th season of the third highest Turkish division in professional men's football. It was started on September 6, 1986 with the 1st game day and ended on May 7, 1987 with the 34th and final game day.

Competition mode

In the 1986/87 season which was TFF 1. Lig , unlike the pre-season not played in twelve groups, but was transferred to a zehngleisige league with 16 to 17 teams. The total number of teams has also been increased from 143 to 166. This 166 team in ten groups for promotion to the 2nd Lig or against relegation to the regional amateur league. The division of the league was carried out regionally, so that all teams in a group came from neighboring or close to one another provinces . All first placed rose directly to the 2nd league , while the league, in contrast to the previous season, was played with relegation. The last two teams in all groups were relegated.

Beginning of the season were the remaining from the previous season 131 teams the twelve relegated from the 2. Lig Artvin Hopaspor , Giresunspor , Mardinspor , Sivasspor , Etibank SAS , Burdurspor , Manisa Vestelspor , Gölcükgücü , Balikesirspor , Tekirdağspor , Lüleburgazspor and Galata SK , the 23 newcomers Trabzonspor B, Çayelispor , Görelespor , Malatya İdman Yurdu , Besni Akınspor , Tatvanspor , Yüksekova Cilospor , Elazig Ferrokromspor , Kozanspor , Kamanspor , Turhalspor , Mamakspor , Yeni Dinarspor , Marmarisspor , Çeşmespor , Karşıyaka SK B, darıca gençlerbirliği , Bozüyükspor , Beypazarıspor , Yeni Sandıklıspor , Bursaspor B, Gönenspor and Tekirdağ Sarayspor were added. The newcomers were either accepted as champions from the then fourth-class regional amateur leagues or had met the requirements of the Turkish Football Association and were allowed to participate in the newly created league.

Trabzonspor B ( Group 1 ), Bitlisspor ( Group 2 ), Niğdespor ( Group 3 ), Bartınspor ( Group 4 ), Ispartaspor ( Group 5 ), Menemenspor ( Group 6 ), Kütahyaspor ( Group 7 ), Uşakspor ( Group 8 ), Eyüpspor ( Group 9 ), Zeytinburnuspor ( Group 10 ) achieved in their groups the championship of the 3rd Lig and thus direct promotion to the 2nd Lig . In Group 1 , Ünyespor was determined by a court order as a further non-regulatory promoter. This club had the same number of points and the same goal difference with the table top Trabzonspor B. Since no precise regulation for this case was announced at the beginning of the season, Ünyespor also rose.

End of the season were from the Group 1 Igdirspor and Palandökenspor , Group 2 Elazig Ferrokromspor and Van İskelespor , Group 3 İskenderun DÇ , İçel Demirspor and Borspor , Group 4 MKE Cankirispor and Mamakspor , Group 5 Denizli Emsan Şirinköy SK , Konya Ereglispor and Yeşil Çivrilspor , group 6 Çine Madranspor and Ülküspor , Group 7 Kütahya Termikspor and Bilecikspor , Group 8 Bursa Kültürspor and Karacabeyspor , Group 9 Yeşildirek SK and Davutpaşa SK and Group 10 Beyoğluspor and Ümraniyespor as relegated to the regional amateur league.

At the beginning of the season, the club Yeşilbağlar Çivrilspor changed its name to Yeşil Çivrilspor .

    1Ünyespor ended the season on points and goal difference level with Trabzonspor B. Nevertheless, he declared Trabzonspor B football association as a champion and thus as a climber. Since no clear regulations for this case were announced at the start of the season, Ünyespor sued and also brought about promotion to the 2nd league by court decision .
    2 Sivas Demirspor were deducted two points at the end of the season.
