Ülküspor is a football club from the western Turkish province of Izmir . The club is one of the founding members of the 2nd division and played there for several years.
history
Early years
In 1914 the club was founded as Türk Yurdu Spor Kulübü , and in 1946 the name was changed to Ülküspor . In the 1956/57 season they became champions of the İzmir Mahalli Lig and rose to the İzmir 1st Lig. In the first season 1963/64 of the second division Ülküspor took part and reached sixth place, also in the following year a secured tenth place could be achieved. On the other hand, the following season went completely different , in which you had to go to the relegation as 13th place, the last place, where you could prevail against Yeşildirek SK and thus keep the class. However, the sporty decline took its course inexorably. While you could barely prevent relegation in the next two seasons, after the end of the 1969/70 season , Ülküspor finally had to go into the 3rd division as last place. After two years in the third division, they had to accept relegation in the 1971/72 season , again as last place . Ülküspor played the third division for the last time in the 1977/78 season , and this time the club was relegated.
Modern times
To this day, Ülküspor has not managed to return to professional sport, meanwhile the club plays in the regional amateur leagues of Izmir. In the 2015/16 season they played in the İzmir Süper Amatoer Lig (6th division), as last place and with five points they were relegated to the 7th division.
