Keçiörengücü is a Turkish football club from the capital Ankara . Under its previous name, Hacettepe Gençlik Kulübü, the club was a founding member of the top Turkish league and played a total of eight seasons in the Süper Lig in the 1950s and 1960s . In the all-time table of the Süper Lig , the club is in 45th place. With this placement, the club is the sixth most successful club in the capital Ankara after MKE Ankaragücü , Gençlerbirliği Ankara , Ankara Demirspor , Türk Telekomspor and Ankaraspor , which were active in the top Turkish league. After the formerly popular club disappeared into insignificance in the 1970s, it returned to Turkish professional football in 1984. In 1987 the club was renamed Keçiörengücü . The association Hacettepe SK has no connection to Keçiörengücü and was only named as a homage to the historical Hacettepe GK .

history

Founding of the association and the first years

The club was founded in 1945 under the name Hacettepe Gençlik Kulübü and was one of the founding teams of the 1st Lig , the highest Turkish league. There they played from 1958 to 1960 and from 1962 to 1968. Within less than ten years, however, the club rose to amateur football. It was not until 1989 that they were promoted to the 2nd Futbol Ligi , the second highest Turkish league.

Descent into insignificance and renaming to Keçiörengücü

In the meantime, the club was renamed Hacettepe Yeni Camuzoğluspor in 1985 and two years later to the current name Keçiörengücü . This was followed by the change of the club colors from the former black and white to purple and white.

Systemic relegation to the TFF 3rd Lig

Since Turkish professional football was to undergo fundamental changes in the 2001/02 season, preparations for this change were made in the 2000/01 season. So far, professional football in Turkey has consisted of three leagues: the top division, the single-lane Türkiye 1. Futbol Ligi , the second-rate five-lane and two-stage Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi and the third-rate, eight -lane Türkiye 3. Futbol Ligi . For the 2001/02 season, professional football was expanded to four professional leagues. While the Türkiye 1. Futbol Ligi remained unchanged, the Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi was now in the second highest division, the Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi Aategorisi (to German: 2. Football League Category A of Turkey ), and the third highest division , the Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi Bategorisi (to German: 2. Football League Category B of Turkey ), divided. The subordinate Türkiye 3rd Futbol Ligi was henceforth the fourth highest division, the TFF 3rd Lig . Those teams that only occupied a middle place in the table in the third division 2000/01 season were assigned to the newly created fourth-highest Turkish division, the 3rd league, for the coming season. Keçiörengücü, which had ended the league in 7th place in the table, had to relegate to the 3rd Lig due to the system.

Modern times

On the penultimate match day of the TFF 3rd Lig 2013/14 , the team secured the championship of Group 3 and thus direct promotion to the TFF 2nd Lig with a 1-0 home win against Erzincan Refahiyespor . As a result, the team returned to the 3rd Turkish league after seven years of abstinence.
