Ediz Bahtiyaroğlu ( Bosnian Edis Bahtijarević ; born January 2, 1986 in Novi Pazar , SFR Yugoslavia , † September 5, 2012 in Eskişehir , Turkey ) was a Turkish football player of Bosniak descent.

Career

Bahtiyaroğlu played for Bursaspor and Ankaraspor in his youth . In the 2004/05 season he was appointed to the first team of Ankaraspor. Shortly before the end of the transfer window, he was awarded to Keçiörengücü . He returned to Ankaraspor after a season and played for the Leopards from then on . In the 2009/10 season Ediz moved to MKE Ankaragücü on loan . There he was signed in the summer of 2010 and loaned to Bucaspor a few days later . On January 5, 2012, Bahtiyaroğlu moved to Eskişehirspor . There he played 14 competitive games until his death.

National team

Ediz Bahtiyaroğlu played a total of nine games for the Turkish U-21 selection from 2006 to 2008 . He made his debut on November 15, 2006 against Denmark.

Since Ediz was of Bosnian descent, after a conversation with the Bosnian national coach Safet Susic , he is said to have decided to play for Bosnia in the future. In a television interview, Bahtiyaroğlu denied his alleged decision to play for Bosnia in the future.

death

On September 5, 2012, Ediz Bahtiyaroğlu died in his apartment after a heart attack .
