Şener Özbayraklı (born January 23, 1990 in Borçka ) is a Turkish football player in the service of Galatasaray Istanbul .

Career

society

Özbayraklı began club football in the youth of the amateur club Borçka Gençlerbirliği . After three seasons for this club, he played in turn in the youth departments of Yenipelitlispor, Arsinspor and Ankaraspor . In spring 2009 he was given a professional contract to the third division club Keçiörengücü . At this club, he made it into the starting eleven straight away. At the end of the season he left Keçiörengücü and hired a league higher with city rivals Bugsaş Spor .

Through his performance at Bugsaş Spor, which changed its name to Polatlı Bugsaşspor in the summer, several top division clubs, including Beşiktaş Istanbul and Bursaspor , became aware of Özbayraklı. For the second half of the 2012/13 season, his move to the first division side Bursaspor was announced. In his new club, he managed to jump into the regular formation right away. In addition, he became one of the most noticeable players in the second half of the season. After Özbayraklı was able to improve his performance in the following two seasons and had consistently shown good performances, the four Turkish top clubs Beşiktaş Istanbul, Fenerbahçe Istanbul , Galatasaray Istanbul and Trabzonspor tried to get Özbayraklıs signed. All transfer efforts failed because of the transfer fee required by Bursaspor.

In the summer of 2015, Özbayraklı moved to Fenerbahçe Istanbul for a transfer fee of 5 million TL . He signed a four-year contract here. For the 2019/20 season, Özbayraklı moved to local rivals Galatasaray Istanbul on a free transfer , where he signed a two-year contract.

National team

Özbayraklı was nominated twice for the Turkish U-18 national team in 2008 and completed one encounter. In addition, Özbayraklı played twice for the second selection of the Turkish national team from 2013 and was thus included in the shortlist for future players of the Turkish national team.

After he had been able to convince with his club for a long time, Özbayraklı was nominated for the first time in his career in the squad of the Turkish national team by national coach Fatih Terim in March 2015 as part of a qualifying match for the EM2016 and a test match taking place a few days later . In this game he made his A international debut.

At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the Turkish squad . He was one of three field players, all from the defense, who did not appear in a tournament.
