Emre Akbaba (born October 4, 1992 in Montfermeil ) is a French - Turkish football player . Akbaba has been playing at Galatasaray Istanbul since August 2018 .

Career

society

Akbaba, whose Turkish roots come from Adilcevaz , grew up in France and then played in the youth division of the Turkish first division club Antalyaspor . His professional career began in the 2012/13 season with the fourth division side Kahramanmaraş Büyükşehir Belediyespor . After 15 championship appearances and one goal, Akbaba agreed with this club on a contract termination, which was followed by a return as a professional player to his previous club. After returning, Antalyaspor loaned him to third division Alanyaspor for two years .

Akbaba made his debut in the TFF 2nd Lig on September 8, 2010 in the home game against Nazilli Belediyespor . In this game he also scored his first goal in the 38th minute. For the second half of the 2015/16 season, his club loaned him to Alanyaspor again. After the successful promotion to the first division, Akbaba was finally signed and transferred from Alanyaspor in the summer of 2016. Akbaba scored six goals and provided six assists in the 2016/17 season. He was able to increase this performance in the following season with 14 goals and nine assists .

In the 2018 summer transfer period, Istanbul Başakşehir FK announced that an oral agreement had been reached with Akbaba in January 2018, but months later the player had higher demands. Therefore, Istanbul Başakşehir FK withdrew its interest in Akbaba. On August 17, 2018, Galatasaray Istanbul announced negotiations with Alanyaspor regarding the transfer of Emre Akbaba. A day later, his transfer was officially confirmed. Galatasaray paid a € 4 million transfer fee for the midfielder and Akbaba signed a three-year deal.

National team

Akbaba was nominated in March 2015 in the squad of the second selection of the Turkish national team , the so-called Turkish A2 national team, and made his debut in the game against the Italian A2 national team. With this he won the International Challenge Trophy 2011–13. Akbaba made his debut for Turkey against Albania on November 13, 2017. In the same game he scored his first international goal.
