Marcão began his career with Avaí FC in 2014. After just one season, he moved to Athletico Paranaense . In his first season for Athletico Paranaense, he came to 13 league games. From 2015 to 2018, the central defender was loaned to Guaratinguetá Futebol , Ferroviária , Atlético Goianiense and Rio Ave FC .

Before the start of the 2018/19 season, Marcão moved to Portugal to the first division club GD Chaves . Galatasaray Istanbul signed him during the 2018/19 winter break .
