Ahmet Yılmaz Çalık (born February 26, 1994 in Ankara ) is a Turkish football player who has played for Galatasaray Istanbul since January 2017 .

Career

society

Çalık started playing football in the youth of Gençlerbirliği Ankara and received a professional contract in the summer of 2011. Nevertheless, he continued to play exclusively for the youth and reserve team for one and a half seasons. Following the 2011/12 season, he was included in the professional squad for the games in the Spor Toto Cup with other young players and was used in all three games. At the start of the next season he was again divided into the reserve team. He took part in the winter training camp for professionals in the 2012/13 season and was then involved in the professional squad by coach Fuat Çapa . Nevertheless, he continued to play for the reserve team for the time being and also trained with the professionals. He made his professional debut in the league game on April 21, 2013 against Fenerbahçe Istanbul . In this game Çalık played from the start on the position of pre-stopper. His team won 2-0, with Çalık in particular receiving much praise from the specialist press for his convincing performance. After this game, Çalık played as a regular player in the remaining league matches of his team.

On January 13, 2017, Galatasaray Istanbul announced the move from Çalık. Galatasaray paid a transfer fee of 2.5 million euros for the defender. The national player signed for four and a half years. In his first full season for Galatasaray, Çalık came to 11 competitive games and scored 2 goals. He was also the Turkish champion of the 2017/18 season.

National team

Çalık played from the Turkish U-16 to the U-20 in all Turkish youth national teams.

With the Turkish U-17 he took part in the U-17 European Football Championship in 2010 and reached the semi-finals. In the semifinals they lost against the eventual European champions Spain. As part of the U-20 World Cup in 2013 , he was appointed to the tournament squad of the Turkish U-20 national team.

In November 2015, Çalık was nominated for the first time in his career by national coach Fatih Terim in two test matches for the Turkish national team . In the encounter against the Greek national team , he made his A international debut.

At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the Turkish squad . He was one of three field players in the squad, all in defense, who were not used in the tournament.
