Taksim SK is a Turkish football club from Istanbul . The club currently plays in the regional amateur league, but was previously represented in the second highest Turkish league . The association was founded in 1940 mostly by members of the Armenian community in Istanbul through the merger of Ateş-Güneş, Nor Şişli and Kalespor. Numerous players of Armenian, Jewish and Greek descent played in the club, but also Turks .
history
The emergence of Taksim SK began with the fact that some players from Galatasaray Istanbul separated from the club after disputes with the club chairman and founded their own clubs Güneş SK and Nor Şişli. However, these two clubs did not last long and so the other players of both clubs merged and founded Taksim SK in 1940.
The team consisted mainly of Armenian players, with a few exceptions, who were of Turkish ethnicity.
Taksim SK was quite successful from the mid-50s to the end of the 60s. The club was in the 1956/57 season champions of the amateur league and in the seasons 1963/64, 1964/65 and 1966/67 champions of the Istanbul Profesyonel Mahallî Lig. After winning the championship in 1966/67, Taksim SK rose to the second Turkish league on. In the second division, the club was only able to hold for one season and rose with 5 wins, 10 draws and 23 defeats in 38 games back to the amateur league, in which it is still represented.
