The Türkiye 3. Futbol Ligi 1985/86 was the 15th season of the third highest Turkish division in professional men's football. It was started on September 15, 1985 with the 1st game day and ended on May 4, 1986 with the 24th and final game day.

Competition mode

In the 1985/86 season, the TFF 1st Lig was, in contrast to the previous season, not held in eleven groups, but was transferred to a twelve-track league with ten to 13 teams. The total number of teams has also been increased from 132 to 143. This 143 team in twelve groups for promotion to the 2nd league or against relegation to the regional amateur leagues. The division of the league was carried out regionally, so that all teams in a group came from neighboring or close to one another provinces . All first placed went straight to the 2nd Lig , while there was no relegation like in the previous season.

Beginning of the season had to the remaining of the previous season 120 teams the six relegated from the 2nd Lig Elazığspor , Sanliurfaspor , Kütahyaspor , Sitespor , Süleymaniye Sirkeci SK and Alibeyköyspor , 17 newcomers Batman Petrolspor , Diyarbakır Yolspor , Viranşehirspor , Van İskelespor , Kadirli İdman Yurdu , Pazarcık Aksuspor , Afşinspor , Çubukspor , Denizli Sarayköyspor , Yeşilbağlar Çivrilspor , Torbalıspor , Akyazıspor , Karacabeyspor , Çanspor , Burhaniyespor , Hayraboluspor and Malkaras added. The newcomers were either accepted as champions from the then fourth-class regional amateur leagues or had met the requirements of the Turkish Football Association and were allowed to participate in the newly created league.

Bayburtspor ( Group 1 ), Elazığspor ( Group 2 ), Reyhanlıspor ( Group 3 ), Çarşambaspor ( Group 4 ), Kırşehirspor ( Group 5 ), Sökespor ( Group 6 ), Kuşadasıspor ( Group 7 ), Sönmez Filamentspor ( Group 8 ), Çanakkales ( Group 9 ), Çorluspor ( Group 10 ), Silivrispor ( Group 11 ) and Beykozspor ( Group 12 ) achieved the championship of the 3rd Lig in their groups and thus the direct promotion to the 2nd Lig . Since the league was played without relegation, there were no relegations at the end of the season.

The club Ünye Gençlerbirliği changed its name to Ünyespor at the beginning of the season .
