Tahir Karapınar (born April 20, 1967 in Izmir ) is a former Turkish football player and current coach.

Player career

Karapınar spent his youth at Tirespor , where he was accepted into the first team in 1985. In the same year he moved to Muğlaspor , two years later he returned to his old club Tirespor, was then loaned to Manisaspor for a year and in 1989 moved to Göztepe Izmir , where he played for two years. In 1991 he moved to Altay Izmir , where he played 335 games in 12 years, and in 2003 he ended his career.

Coaching career

In 2009 Karapınar became head coach at Altay Izmir, at that time still in the second division , where he was able to reach 5th place with the club and was thus qualified for the play-offs in the Süper Lig . There his club lost to Kasımpaşa Istanbul , so the promotion was not achieved. Karapinar then resigned from his post.

For the 2014/15 season he was introduced as the new coach at Manisaspor. After a mixed season start with four points from six games, Karapınar was dismissed in October 2014.
