Metin Yıldız (born November 24, 1960 in Sivas ) is a former Turkish football player and coach.
Career
Athletic career
Yıldız started his career in the youth of Galatasaray Istanbul . The midfielder made his debut on February 17, 1979 in the Inönü Stadium against Altay İzmir . In the 1979/80 season he was part of the regular team and came to 22 games. Metin Yıldız won his first title in the Turkish Cup in 1982. Galatasaray defeated MKE Ankaragücü in the final with a total of 5: 1 (first leg 3: 0, second leg 1: 2). Yıldız missed the final due to an injury.
The following season 1982/83 spent Yıldız on loan at Zonguldakspor . With the commitment of Jupp Derwall Metin Yıldız came to a few games. There were seven games in the 1984/85 season. In the summer of 1985 he moved to league rivals Malatyaspor . He played for Malatyaspor for two years. A season at Adana Demirspor followed . He returned to Galatasaray after three years. Transfers to Zeytinburnuspor , Kayserispor and Mersin İdman Yurdu followed . Metin Yıldız ended his active career after the 1992/93 season.
Metin Yıldız played seven times for Turkey and scored one goal.
Coaching career
His coaching career was without significant success. From 1998 to 2002 he worked as a youth coach at Galatasaray. In the Süper Lig , Yıldız was once the head coach of Çaykur Rizespor .
Yıldız's last coaching position was from November 2008 to December 2008 at Adanaspor .
