Gökmen Özdenak (born June 22, 1947 in Istanbul ) is a former Turkish soccer player and sports journalist. Due to his physical robustness, he was referred to as Ayı Gökmen (Eng. Gökmen the bear ) during player times .

Career

At the beginning of his career, Gökmen Özdenak played for İstanbulspor . In 1970 he moved to Galatasaray Istanbul . At Cimbom he was four times Turkish champion and twice Turkish cup winner. In his 10 years at Galatasaray, he was his team's top scorer for 5 seasons. His highest scoring season was 1977/78 with 17 goals.

With his goal from the league game against Adana Demirspor on October 7, 1979 Özdenak scored his 100th first division goal and made it into the 100th club of the highest Turkish league.

In the summer of 1980, Özdenak resigned as an active footballer with a farewell game in which Galatasaray played against arch rivals Beşiktaş Istanbul .

National team

From 1972 to 1977 Özdenak played for the Turkish national team and completed nine games, scoring one goal. He also played for the Turkish U-18 and U-21 national teams .
