The Pallasca Province is one of the 20 provinces that make up the Ancash administrative region in Peru . The province has an area of 2101 km², the population was 23,491 in 2017. The administrative seat is Cabana .
Geographical location
The Pallasca Province is located in the extreme north of the Ancash administrative region. To the west, north and east it borders on the administrative region of La Libertad . The River Tablachaca has its source in the north of the province and flows in a south-westerly direction along the provincial border to the Río Santa . In the southwest the province extends to the middle course of the Río Santa, in the east to the river course of the Río Marañón , left source river of the Amazon . The length of the province in SW-NE direction is 92 km. The northern foothills of the Cordillera Blanca run through the province in a north-south direction . Neighboring provinces within the administrative region of Ancash are: Santa in the far west, Corongo and Sihuas in the south.
Administrative division
The province of Pallasca consists of eleven districts ( distritos ). The Cabana district is the seat of the provincial administration.
