The Sihuas Province is one of the 20 provinces that make up the Ancash administrative region in Peru . The province has an area of 1456 km², the population was 26,971 in 2017. The administrative seat is in Sihuas .
Geographical location
The province of Sihuas is located east of the northern foothills of the Cordillera Blanca , a mountain range of the Peruvian Western Cordillera . In the east, the Río Marañón forms the border with the province of Pataz , which belongs to the administrative region of La Libertad . The rivers Río Rupac and Río Actuy drain the area east to the Río Marañón. The neighboring provinces within the administrative region of Ancash are: Pallasca in the northwest, Corongo in the west, Huaylas in the southwest and Pomabamba in the southeast.
