The Bolognesi Province is one of the 20 provinces that make up the Ancash administrative region in Peru . The province was founded on October 22nd, 1903. In 2017, 23,797 people lived in the 3154.8 km² area. In 1993 the population was 28,029, in 2007 it was 30,725. The administrative seat is in Chiquián .
Geographical location
The Bolognesi province is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera . It extends in the west over the upper catchment area of the Río Fortaleza and in the east over the upper catchment areas of Río Pativilca and Río Vizcarra . The southern end of the valley of the Callejón de Huaylas forms the connection between the two parts of the province.
The Bolognesi province borders the Huánuco to the east, the Lima region and the Ocros province to the south, the Huarmey province to the west, and the Recuay and Huari provinces to the north .
Administrative division
The Bolognesi Province consists of the following 15 districts. The district of Chiquián is the seat of the provincial administration.
