The corongo province is one of the 20 provinces, the Administrative Region of Ancash in Peru form. In 2017, 7532 people lived in the 988.01 km² area. In 1993 the population was 8917, in 2007 it was 8,329. The administrative seat of the province is the town of the same name, Corongo .
Geographical location
Corongo Province is in the north of Ancash. In the west, the Río Santa forms the provincial border. The province of Corongo extends over the catchment areas of its right tributaries Río Manta and Río Chunyay . It borders in the north on the Pallasca Province , in the west on the Huaylas Province , in the south on the Santa Province and in the east on the Sihuas Province .
Administrative division
The Corongo Province consists of seven districts ( distritos ). The Corongo district is the seat of the provincial administration.
