The Ticllos district is located in the Bolognesi province in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district was founded on October 22, 1907. The district area is 92.6 km². The 2017 census counted 687 residents. In 1993 the population was 591, in 2007 it was 978. The district administration is located in the 3655  m high village of Ticllos with 418 inhabitants (as of 2017). Ticllos is located about 12 km south-southwest of the provincial capital Chiquián .

Geographical location

The Ticllos district is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera, in the center of the Bolognesi province. The district lies to the west of the south-flowing Río Pativilca and is bounded in the northeast and in the southwest by the river valleys of the Quebrada Yanayaco and the Quebrada Checchec.

The district of Ticllos borders in the south on the districts Abelardo Pardo Lezameta and San Miguel de Corpanqui , in the southwest on the district Cajamarquilla ( province Ocros ), in the west on the district Cajacay and in the north and east on the district Chiquián .
