The Mangas district is located in the Bolognesi province in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district has an area of 126 km². The 2017 census counted 522 residents. In 1993 the population was 608, in 2007 it was 568. The district administration is located in the 3459 m high village of Mangas with 389 inhabitants (as of 2017). Mangas is located 25 km south-southeast of the provincial capital Chiquián .
Geographical location
The Mangas district is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the south of the Bolognesi province. The Río Pativilca flows south along the western district boundary .
The Mangas district borders in the west on the districts Carhuapampa , San Cristóbal de Rajan , Llipa , district Cajamarquilla (all in the province of Ocros ) and Abelardo Pardo Lezameta , in the north on the districts La Primavera and Pacllón and in the southeast on the district Copa ( province Cajatambo ).
