The Carhuapampa District is located in the Ocros Province in the Ancash Region in western Peru . The district was established on September 30, 1941. It has an area of 107 km². The 2017 census counted 498 residents. In 1993 the population was 552, in 2007 752. The district administration is located in the 2228 m high village of Aco with 280 inhabitants (as of 2017). Aco is located 20 km southeast of the provincial capital Ocros . In addition to Aco, there is also the village of Pimachi in the district.
Geographical location
The Carhuapampa District is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the southeast of the Ocros Province. The Río Pativilca flows along the eastern and southern district borders.
The Carhuapampa district borders in the west on the Acas district , in the north on the San Cristóbal de Raján district , in the east on the Mangas district ( Bolognesi province ), in the southeast on the Huancapón district and in the south on the Manás district (the last two districts mentioned are in the province of Cajatambo ).
