The district of San Cristóbal de Raján is located in the province of Ocros in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district was established on October 15, 1954. It has an area of 70.6 km². The 2017 census counted 463 residents. In 1993 the population was 466, in 2007 572. The district administration is located in the 3605 m high village of Raján with 351 inhabitants (as of 2017). Raján is located about 20 km east of the provincial capital Ocros .
Geographical location
The district of San Cristóbal de Raján is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the east of the province of Ocros. The south-flowing Río Pativilca forms the southeastern boundary of the district.
The district of San Cristóbal de Raján borders in the south with the district Carhuapampa , in the west with the district Acas , in the northwest with the districts Santiago de Chilcas and Ocros , in the northeast with the district Llipa and in the far southeast with the district Mangas ( province Bolognesi ) .
