The district of Ocros is located in the province of Ocros in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district was established on October 21, 1954. It has an area of ​​226 km². The 2017 census counted 1284 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 1936, in 2007 1375. The district administration is located in the provincial capital Ocros, 3230  m high, with 878 inhabitants (as of 2017).

Geographical location

The district of Ocros is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the north-eastern center of the province of Ocros. It is traversed by the Río Ocros, a right tributary of the Río Pativilca , in a predominantly southwestern direction.

The district of Ocros borders on the district of San Pedro in the west, on the districts of Congas and Huayllacayán ( province of Bolognesi ) in the northwest , on the districts of Cajacay (province of Bolognesi), Cajamarquilla , Llipa and San Cristóbal de Raján in the southeast, on the district in the southeast Santiago de Chilcas and in the extreme south to the district of Cochas .
