The district of San Miguel de Corpanqui is located in the Bolognesi province in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district was established on October 15, 1954. It has an area of 42.7 km². The 2017 census counted 519 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 305, in 2007 it was 777. The district administration is located in the 3379 m high village of San Miguel de Corpanqui (or Corpanqui for short) with 433 inhabitants (as of 2017). San Miguel de Corpanqui is located 15.5 km south-southwest of the provincial capital Chiquián .
Geographical location
The district of San Miguel de Corpanqui is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the south of the Bolognesi province. The district lies to the west of the south-flowing Río Pativilca and is bordered to the north and south by the river valleys of the Quebrada Checchec and the Quebrada Quen Quen.
The district of San Miguel de Corpanqui borders in the south on the district Canis , in the west on the district Cajamarquilla ( province Ocros ), in the north on the district Ticllos and in the east on the Abelardo Pardo Lezameta .
