The Colquioc district is located in the Bolognesi province in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district was established on The district area is 305 km². The 2017 census counted 2,464 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 1759, in 2007 it was 3078. The district administration is located in the 3078  m high small town of Chasquitambo with 1741 inhabitants (as of 2017). Chasquitambo is located km west of the provincial capital Chiquián .

Geographical location

The Colquioc district is located on the western edge of the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the far west of the Bolognesi province. The Río Fortaleza and its left tributary Río Purisima flow through the district in a south-westerly direction.

The Colquioc district borders in the southwest on the Paramonga district ( Barranca province ), in the west on the Huarmey district ( Huarmey province ), in the north on the Pararín district (also in the Huarmey province), in the northeast on the Antonio Raymondi and Huayllapampa districts , in the southeast to the district of Congas and in the south to the district of Copa (both in the province of Ocros ).
