The Huayllapampa district is located in the Recuay Province in the Ancash region in central western Peru . The district was founded on October 7, 1907. It has an area of 111 km². The 2017 census counted 664 residents. In 1993 the population was 898, in 2007 it was 1146. The administrative seat of the district is the 2889 m high village of Huayllapampa with 353 inhabitants (as of 2017). Huayllapampa is 38 km south-southwest of the provincial capital Recuay .
Geographical location
The Huayllapampa District is located in the southwest of the Recuay Province. It is located on the western flank of the Cordillera Negra . The north-eastern district boundary runs along the watershed of the mountain range. The area is drained to the southwest over the Río Huayllapampa to the Río Fortaleza .
The district of Huayllapampa borders in the west on the district Llacllin , in the northwest on the district Tapacocha , in the extreme northeast on the district Cátac , in the east on the district Marca and in the extreme south on the district Antonio Raymondi ( province Bolognesi ).
