Terrie Ex

Terrie Ex (* 1955 in Amsterdam as Terrie Hessels ) is a Dutch post -punk and improvisation musician ( guitar ) who became known with the anarcho-punk band The Ex .

Act

Ex started playing the guitar self-taught when he became one of the founders of the band The Ex in urban warfare in Amsterdam ; nobody in the band wanted to play the guitar at first. To this day he belongs (as the only remaining founding member) to The Ex . In addition, he began to improvise across genres at an early age. He soon played with Han Bennink , with whom the duo albums The Laughing Owl and Zeng! originated. In 1995 he played with Andy Moor , Wolter Wierbos , Ab Baars and Michael Vatcher in the film Sounds of Bells. In 1996 he took a sabbatical and traveled with his partner through 21 countries in Africa. In the group The Ex he appeared together with Sonic Youth and with the ICP Orkest .

Ex released albums with Rozemarie Heggen, Ab Baars, Xavier Charles , Jaap Blonk and Kaja Draksler . With Massimo Pupillo and Paal Nilssen-Love he played in the trio OffOnOff , with Ken Vandermark , Andy Moor and Paal Nilssen-Love in the group Lean Left , with which seven albums were created by 2020 (initially Lean Left Volume 1 ). The album Soigne ta droite was created with Vandermark's Tentett Entr'acte . He also worked with Herman Brood , Herr Seele , Kamagurka , Jan Mulder , the Mekons , Chumbawamba , Peter Brötzmann , Hamid Drake , Jan Akkerman , Butch Morris , Mats Gustafsson , Roy Paci , Ig Henneman , Tim Hodgkinson , Saadet Türköz , Peter Evans , Nate Wooley , Noël Akchoté and Akira Sakata .

In 2000 he started his label TERP , on which he also released music by Tsehaytu Beraki, Gétatchèw Mèkurya , Konono No.1 and Mohammed Jimmy Mohammed.
