The Ragash district is located in the Sihuas Province in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district was established on December 12, 1963. It has an area of 209 km². The 2017 census counted 2,447 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 3099, in 2007 it was 2769. The district administration is located in the approximately 3500 m high village of Ragash with 371 inhabitants (as of 2017). Ragash is located 4.5 km northwest of the provincial capital Sihuas .
Geographical location
The Ragash District is located in the northwest of the Sihuas Province. The western district boundary runs along the continental divide . The area is drained to the east via the Río Actuy and Río Sihuas .
The Ragash district is bordered to the west by the district Cusca ( corongo province ), in the northwest on the district Conchucos ( province Pallasca ), in the northeast on the district Chingalpo , on the east by the district Huayllabamba and on the southeast by the districts Sihuas and Cashapampa .
