The Sihuas District is located in the Sihuas Province in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district has an area of 46 km². The 2017 census counted 5599 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 5438, in 2007 it was 5562. The district administration is located in the provincial capital Sihuas, 2716 m high, with 4436 inhabitants (as of 2017).
Geographical location
The Sihuas District is centrally located in the Sihuas Province. The Río Sihuas , left headwaters of the Río Rupac , crosses the district in a southeastern direction.
The Sihuas district is bordered on the southwest by the district Cashapampa , the west and the north by the district Ragash , on the east by the district Huayllabamba and on the southeast by the district San Juan .
