Brekstad is a small town in the municipality Ørland in Fylke (Province) Trøndelag in the west of Norway . Brekstad has 2,230 inhabitants and an area of 2.0 km². The city received city status on 2005. Until 2019, Brekstad was the administrative city of Ørland Municipality.

Brekstad is located at the confluence of the Trondheim and Stjørnfjords about 45 km northwest of Trondheim.
traffic
From Brekstad there are speedboats to Trondheim and Kristiansund and there is a ferry connection across the Trondheimsfjord to Valset and to Ørland Airport with daily flights to Oslo .
